Very smooth flavor for a dark roast - not burnt tasting

The hubby and i are coffee snobs, so we love making our own espresso at home. I ordered the ground, but was actually very happy to receive whole bean as we like to grind our own coffee anyone to our liking for espresso. It's really hard to find a dark roast that isn't over-roasted in my opinion, with the big chain with green logo being the biggest culprit. This roast boast an amazingly smooth flavor while still provide a robust chocolatey flavor. I love that the bag is resealable with a ziplok versus a double foldover and tape, so the freshness is well preserved in this bag.

So overall, we are very pleased to recommend this coffee as a whole bean if you like grinding your own espressos at home. This single origin Columbian coffee bean will provide a nice robust cup that you would expect from a dark roast without the nastiness of an over roasted dark. It has an amazingly smooth flavor that you will enjoy.

Delicious and values-based

This coffee smells so good! It tastes good too! Im one of those weirdos that likes chewing dry espresso beans, and these dont disappoint!

Their bag says, rooted in faith, facts, and common sense, so I went to their website to look more into them. I love what they stand for. In a world of meaningless companies, its nice to come across one thats values-based.

I also love that their coffee beans have super bold flavor. Thats not for everyone, but I love it. Five stars for Based Coffee!

A Rich Dark Roast Without That Dark Roast Slap.

I love a good dark roast, but it can be hard to find one that doesn't just taste burnt, or so dark and thick that it tastes like it was brewed in a boot from the 1800s that sat.

This is a beautiful roast; it's smooth and rich, but not so heavily dark that I have to add way more cream and sugar than I usually would (in this regard it's more similar to a medium roast, which I love). There's no bitterness at all!

These beans are an in-between an oilier, shiny bean and a dry, dehydrated bean; they're the perfect medium. This makes them grind nicely to all the grind sizes I like to use, whither coarsely ground for our drip, or more finely ground for our espresso machine.

The smell didn't honestly wow me, but I've found over the years that that's not always a good indicator of a good coffee.

I'm impressed, and so is my husband. Yum!

Great dark roast but not burnt, for a change

Great flavor. Always love single origin and prefer south American to African beans. Flavor profile is great, and dark roasts are hard to find.

Rich, aromatic and delicious!

Based Coffee makes a delicious, delightfully bold and smooth cup of coffee!

The whole beans have a rich aroma. They are somewhat lighter than other beans I've bought and aren't as oily feeling. When I ran them through our burr grinder on a medium ground setting it was definitely evident that they're a dryer bean with some chaff, but there's no discernable concern - in fact, I think the flavor was actually better than the oilier ones we've had.

Smooth Single-Origin Dark Roast with Rich Flavor and Low Bitterness

This single-origin Colombian dark roast delivers a bold cup of coffee without becoming overly bitter. Made from 100% Arabica beans sourced from small Colombian farms, it offers a rich, full-bodied flavor that's well suited for those who enjoy a darker roast with a smooth finish.

The coffee has a pleasant aroma while brewing and produces a robust flavor that works well black or with cream and sweetener. Despite being a dark roast, it maintains a balanced profile rather than tasting burnt or overly smoky, making it approachable for a wide range of coffee drinkers.

The beans grind consistently and perform well in a variety of brewing methods, including drip coffee makers, pour-over setups, French presses, and espresso machines, depending on your preferred grind size.

The emphasis on sourcing from small Colombian farms is a nice touch for those who appreciate knowing where their coffee comes from. The freshness of the beans also contributes to a flavorful and enjoyable cup.

As with any dark roast, flavor preferences are subjective. Those who prefer lighter, brighter coffees with more acidity may find this roast stronger than their usual choice, while dark roast fans will likely appreciate its smooth, bold character.

Overall, this is a satisfying dark roast that combines rich flavor, smooth drinkability, and quality single-origin Arabica beans. It's a good choice for anyone looking for a full-bodied everyday coffee that avoids the harsh bitterness often associated with darker roasts.

Dryer bean for espresso machine. Can pull crema shots.

These beans worked really well in my espresso machine. They're a little on the dry side, which makes them perfect for using in an espresso machine. Beans are easy to grind, and I had no trouble pulling shots with a nice layer of crema.

The coffee tastes fresh with a rich, bold flavor that wasn't bitter, acidic, or overly roasted. It also didn't leave me feeling like I could suddenly hear colors, which I appreciate. If you like a smooth dark roast that's easy to work with and makes a solid espresso, this is one I'd happily buy again.
